Demurrage Free-time in Indian Sub-Continent - new restriction 30/03/2010
The market ex N. Europe and West Mediterranean to Indian Sub-Continent has called on exceptional basis for MSC to offer 14 days free time. This practice slows down the necessary turnaround of the containers hurting the availability of the same for the Indian Sub-Continent export market. MSC regrets to inform the clients involved in this trade that due to the global shortage of equipment and the need for faster turnaround times of MSC’s containers, MSC can no longer afford to tie its equipment down for longer than its stipulated tariff free-time. On very exceptional cases, and when it is proven necessary, we will allow some exceptions.

This will take effect on all shipments as of April 15th 2010, B/L date, to allow for time for the clients and banks to re-arrange the L/C requirements.

We hope this will improve the overall situation and give a better service to the Indian Sub-Continent market.

"North Europe" covers the scope of North West Continent, North of Spain, Portugal, U.K./Ireland, Scandinavian counties, Finland, Poland, Baltic countries and Russia.
“West Mediterranean” covers Italy, Adriatic, South of France, South East of Spain.
